Noryl Machining Capabilities
Milled Noryl Plastic Part, used in the Medical Industry. Milled from plate, has multiple intersecting cross holes with deburring requirements, tight tolerance flatness used for sealing matting part and tight tolerance grooves for O-rings.
Make Portland Precision Machining Company your first choice for high precision, tight tolerance Noryl machining. Noryl is a popular material choice for a range of applications, and our experience in working with this engineered plastic enables us to deliver top quality, precision machined Noryl parts that match our customers’ exact design specifications.
Our skilled, experienced staff utilizes advanced CNC technology to produce machined Noryl parts and components with dimensional tolerances of ±0.0005” or better. With our Noryl machining capabilities, we can create simple or complex parts with superior precision and part-to-part repeatability, whether you need a handful of prototypes or full-scale production runs with quantities in the tens of thousands or more.
Machining with Noryl
Noryl (or NORYL) is a family of amorphous, homogenous blends of polyphenylene ether (PPE) resins and polystyrene. These engineered plastics combine the high heat resistance, electrical insulation properties, and other beneficial properties of PPE resin with high dimensional stability and low density for enhanced performance in an array of applications. Offering a good balance of mechanical and chemical properties, Noryl is commonly used in electronics and electrical equipment, aircraft instrumentation, shafts, gear wheels, and other diverse products.
Beneficial Properties of Noryl
- Very high impact strength
- Very high surface strength
- High stiffness
- High dielectric strength
- High heat resistance
- Outstanding dimensional stability
- Very low moisture absorption
- Good chemical resistance
- Good creep resistance
- Flame resistant/self-extinguishing
- Maintains mechanical properties up to 230°F (110°C) in continuous use
Multiple variations of these resins exist, and Portland Precision is equally adept at machining all types of Noryl. We also provide high precision machining for numerous other exotic and engineered plastics. Contact us with your material questions or to discuss the material requirements of your project.
Secondary Noryl Machining Services
